My name is Chad Nuss. I have been practicing art since I was a child. I decided at a young age to pursue art as more than simply a career but as my life’s calling and purpose. I attended the Ontario College of Art and Design in Toronto, Canada and earned a BFA in Communication and Design with an emphasis in illustration. After college, I experienced several life changing events sparked by the death of my father. I entered seminary and studied theology and philosophy for over a decade and earned an MDiv and ThM from Southern Seminary. These studies prepared me for my current work.
The purpose of my work is to help others contemplate the meaning of life and God. My art focuses on three areas: abstraction, sequential, and traditional. With my abstract work, I seek to contemplate the metaphysical and the relationship between God and the world; my sequential art is a contemplation in worldviews and narrative thinking; and, my traditional painting and drawing expresses the beauty of the world and God’s hand in creation.
The work on this website is a sample of a larger body. I am currently working on three personal projects: first, a series of traditional drawings and paintings exploring landscapes and the human form; second, character designs and sketches in preparation for publishing my third graphic novel; and third, a series of large abstract drawings and paintings to be featured in upcoming pop-up art showings. The larger goal of my work is not for financial commissions or freelance projects, but to promote beauty and the contemplation of the divine.
